Manvel, south of Pearland, has been adding houses quickly along the 288 corridor and the county roads between Pearland and Alvin. New drywall, builder texture, and paint that may only be weeks old are the conditions on most wallpaper calls. That is a good moment to hang paper if the prep is real, and a bad moment if someone wants peel-and-stick on the paint the builder rolled last month.
What new houses need
- Cure time on fresh paint before traditional paper, longer than a weekend
- Skim or liner on orange peel if the paper is smooth or photographic
- Wallpaper primer after the wall is smooth
- Roll counts based on actual ceiling height, which in these plans is often not eight feet
